For years, I strictly forbade drinking during the work week. Until I didn't. For years, I strictly forbade drinking during the day. Until I didn’t.
Then I reached a dark touchstone for any alcoholic. I began drinking to overcome the consequences of my drinking.
I'd once thought being a hard-drinking journalist was cool. But gradually I became a real life, live-action country song. 🌵
Morning and night, darkness and light, both became a blur.
You would have seen a tall, white hipster in a Western-style, pearl-button shirt, Levi's, and Vans. You might have guessed I was reasonably well-educated after hearing me use a few pretty words.
What you wouldn't know was how much alcohol I’d had to drink before you ever saw me that day.
